As the name suggests, Rishikesh, which functions as the twin city to Hardwar is the lock of the Saints.
Rishikesh is situated at a distance of 26Kms from Hardwar .
Both these cities of Hardwar and Rishikesh are the doorway for the entire Garhwal region of the Himalayas.
Whereas Hardwar instantly conjures up an image of Temples, Pujas, Artis and Dharmshalas , Rishikesh is a slightly more modern and is thus more frequented by the Western travellors.
Though the river Ganaga borders this city, the main city is more cosmopolitan and acts as the logistic hub for the entire Garhwal. Hardwar on the other hand is the hub of pilgrims and devotees.
