Fort Denison

It's a great half day trip out to this little island in the middle of the harbour. It's called Fort Denison now but it used to be called Pinchgut.

Cadmans Cottage (the oldest house in Sydney) where you pick up your tickets. The ferry leaves from just behind it.
It is next door to the Tourist Info Centre in The Rocks.

There is no shop on the island, only a cafe and you have to prebook for lunch or breakfast.

At 1pm the cannon fires from here that you can hear all over the city. It's very loud up close.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Got a lot of history.
  • Cons:It's tiny.
  • In a nutshell:Might as well have a look.

Jenn, your outing to Fort Denison looks quite inviting! I think I'd like to hear the cannon go off, as long as it is not shooting at me.
