"Frankston on the Mornington Peninsula" Frankston by craic

Frankston Travel Guide: 10 reviews and 22 photos

There are many beautiful areas around Frankston - but frankly it is a bit of a hole.
I have heard so many stories about this place - I suppose most of them are urban myths.
My daughter sometimes goes to karaoke night at one of the pubs here - she and her mates call it The Zoo. She tries to describe it to me but somehow I just can't visualise it. I'll have to go and see for myself.
I do know they are trying several ways to keep the area outside the train station free of trouble.
Mounted police people patrolling.
Pumping Vivaldi out of loudspeakers. I think they tried the Beatles too.

Dogs aren't allowed in the shopping centre but you can get a tatt.

AND they sell crocs - woo woo!

UPDATE - I am spending more time in Frankston now I am living in Melbourne and I am beginning to warm to it a bit more.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:The place has a mighty buzz. No pretensions. No class.
  • Cons:Soooooooooooo ugly.
  • In a nutshell:I am sure that if you are here that it is purely by accident.

This hotel room looks like a fine place to read a good book!

How can a place with one computer and a long beach be so bad? ;-)

All it takes is one good reader, and those charity shops become great bookstores! (Here we have a very good St. Vincent de Paul's.)

Another enjoyable page about one of those places that tourists don't get to visit. The bookshop sounds good, but I have way too many of the bloody things, I'd better not visit!

I've seen a few places that look like Frankston too! Your internet gripe reminded me of the bank yesterday where 5 tellers were fidgeting with machines while only 2 others were trying serve a large backlog of customers!

I like the idea of "pumping Vivaldi out of loudspeakers". But does it work?
