Most of LA's best clubs are not at the beach as you would expect- they're in Hollywood or West Hollywood. Just pick up an LA weekly free paper and look under clubs for something that suits you. If you're carless, don't fear- try one of these places withing walking distance of Hollywood Blvd: Boardner's, Hollywood athletic club, Goldfingers, Crush Bar, Knitting Factory....
As a general rule, West Hollywood clubs cater to either the glam rock or gay crowds, while Hollywood proper has something to suit all tastes. Silverlake is the place to find indie rock and avant-hip hop
