This was the best place I ate at while in Prague. Frequented by many upscale Hollywood and Czech clientele this restaurant has a great atmosphere and wonderful views of Old Town from its riverfront dining room.

This dining experience is simiar to what you will find at a few other restaurants in Prague. Try also Hergetova Cihelna, Cihelna 2B (www.cihelna.com), Coda, Aria Hotel Trziste 9 (www.codarestaurant.com), Square Malostranske namesti 5/28 (www.squarerestaurant.cz).

Favorite Dish: Every dish is incredibly prepared and presented. Some of the dishes are local Czech variations and others have more of an international flare to them. You will not be disappointed.

The restaurant sits in the once used wine cellar of the Premonstratensian order of Strahov Monastary. It is situated under the monastic "Paradise" gardens which is why it is named "peklo" or hell. The atmosphere is dark but lit well with candles and lights throughout. There are some small fountains inside and the main bar room is used for large parties.

Favorite Dish: I tried a few things on the menu and all were very good. Again I don't think you will be dissapointed. They have some local Czech wines which were really good and we also tried the local herbed liquor. Definitely an acquired taste. Definitely give it a try if you are exploring Petrin Park or Strahov Monastary.

The interior of this restaurant was bright and yet very old. Most of Prague has been raised to stop the negative effects of flooding over the years. Most of the restaurants that appear to be on the street level are actually beneath it. This was another "cellar-like" restaurant that seemed very quaint. The service was good and they were very friendly.

Favorite Dish: I had never tried Czech cuisine before I came to Prague. I have been missing out. The meat dishes are very well prepared and sometimes are swimming in sauces. Their dumplings are great too. This restaurant even has some vegetarian alternatives which are also quite good.

One of the neat things about this restaurant is that you can get a cold mug of their dark local brew set down at your table before the menu even comes out. They will walk by and place one down if you like and mark it on a sheet of paper. It is not bad and always cold. When you are done, they will be by to pick it up and set down a brand new one. There is a very old, hunting lodge type of feel to it. Long tables in the center, hanging lights from the ceiling and exposed beams. There are also some guys who will play some music during the night. If you want to tip them, apparently the tuba player accepts money down the bell of his horn.

Favorite Dish: I tried the goulash with potatoe dumplings and it was very filling. They have specials that are very good as well. The fact that they have their own micro brew is also a real treat here.

There are a few of these restaurants in Prague in different areas. They have French decor and the staff is very helpful. They are bright and airy inside and the food is great.

In the Jewish Quarter, this cafe is a great place to recharge your batteries. It is a small venue with light meals and plenty of drinks to choose from. There are old black and white photos on the walls and memorabilia dedicated to Kafka himself.
Service can vary so you may want to take your time.

This used to be the best art nouveau place in Prague. It was used as a model for the dining room of the Titanic. The prices are not totally off the charts but it does seem to cater to tourists.

If you are visiting Tyn Cathedral this is one of the many stops you can choose from. The neat thing about this one is it is tucked into the street "literaly", you have to step down into it and it is a cozy little place for a small bite or just some coffee.

The Zanzibar has a great breakfast selection and is open early. It is also open for lunches and for late drinks as well. If you are in Nove Mesto or just passing through on Americka St. It is worth the stop.

If you go and visit the St Cyril and Methodius Church and paratrooper memorial this will be a very interesting place to stop. It is right across the street and has a very good menu. The interior is dedicated to the plight of those brave soldiers and tells their story through pictures and murals. There is also a good deal of WWII memorabilia maps and re-enactment photos adorning the walls.

Favorite Dish: If you try the Paratrooper stew bring an empty stomach. It is quite good and VERY filling.
