Foothills Inn: Cheap in Rapid City

This was a great stay for the price. The rooms are spacious and the hospitality staff very helpful and friendly. It is easy to find off of I-90 on the eastern side of Rapid City.

Unique Qualities: Double queen beds in one room...plenty of hot water! The continental breakfast is sparse but there is a Perkins 50yds away.

Cedar Pass Lodge: Badlands lodging

This lodge is just on the eastern entrance to the Badlands National Park. They offer dining, gift shops, cabins in and outside the park as well as a central lodge.

Unique Qualities: This is a great way to see the Badlands and wake up when the sun hits the ancient spires in the early hours. Just like the homesteaders of old. I have not stayed here but it is a great choice when visiting the area.

Mt. Rushmore reservations

I didn't stay at any of these hotels in the Mt. Rushomre area but I wanted to let you know they are out there. Keystone is the main city to stay and is a historic town in itself. They offer: Presidents View Resort (1-800-504-3210), Econo Express (1-888-326-6695), Whitehouse Resort (1-866-996-6835), and various Chalets (1-888-996-6835).
Give them a call and they can set you up with accomodation and restaurant deals accompanying your stay.

Unique Qualities: Kids stay for free in some places as well as you can rent a Chalet with full kitchen amenities and great views of the Rushmore monument or the scenic pine forests.
