"Mildenhall-East Anglian Market town" Mildenhall by bpwillet

Medieval Market Town

MIldenhall is not the first place on most tourists stops to Eastern England. Located in Suffolk county it is in the vicinity of other well known cities such as Cambridge, Newmarket, Ely or Bury St. Edmunds. It is a market town with many farms and fens in the immediate surrounding areas. It appears that not much has changed since the creation of the town, but it is a nice place to live.

Jump off to East Anglia

It is also a good base to start exploring other areas around the East Anglia region of England. Surrounded by farmland the landscapes can be quite amazing when the sun hits them just right.

Ancient History

There is a museum in Mildenhall that has exhibits on traditional life in a market town and the discover of the Silver Plates. These were pure silver plates and other utensils used by Romans that have been unearthed nearby. There are also many pre-historic burial sites underneath where the town stands today. Every time a new development is built archeologists need to inspect the site for any other clues to the past.

Nice adds to you homepage! I see the famous British weather doesn't touch the southern shores of the British Isles? :-)
