Getting TO/AROUND: Barcelona is very well connected with its underground system. Tickets need to be bought in advance and can be paid for with cash or card at either ticket booths or automatic machines. Single trip tickets as well as multi-day tickets can be purchased, relatively inexpensive.

Getting TO/AROUND: One of the things to bear in mind with the metros are that some of the lines are only operated by funiculars. They usually only operate in summer months and are attached to some lines that lead directly to certain tourist spots (Castell de Montjuic, Tibidabo to name a few). Also the metro stations are fairly clean though have their fair share of starving musicians and most of the tunnels are open canvasses for works of poetry or prose. Bear in mind also that many of the stations have multiple entrances/exits. So it may help to check a map once you get off the metro to get your bearings. There are always voices to tell you which station is next as well. There are also a lot of stairs to climb with very few lifts or escalators.

Getting TO/AROUND: This was one of the best ideas for arriving in Barcelona. We arrived in Ryanair's destination airport in Girona. There is a bus (Barcelona Bus) which will take you either directly into the city and main bus station of Barcelona, or to the bus/train station of Girona. You can inquire and purchase tickets inside the arrivals terminal at Girona Airport. The train is a very clean and pleasant ride between any of the outlying cities from Barcelona and it is a great way to see more if you want to take day trips. Tickets are bought separately than the metro tickets and are fairly inexpensive. Barcelona to Girona is only about 5Euro one way in 2nd class (there aparently is no first class).

Getting TO/AROUND: There are bikes all over Barcelona. Some of the Barri Gotic with it's narrow alleys and throngs of people may get dangerous at times with a lot of bikers. But they are out there. It is very easy to get around Barcelona on bicycle and can be a good work out when attempting to climb up hills and the outlying city areas. For really adventurous bike riders, the trip up to TIbidabo or farther would not only be a challenge it will surround you in beautiful scenery.

This game is called "Petanca" and is a very famous game here in catalunya and Spain. Normally is played by old people because nowadays is not so played by young people as it was in the past. Look at this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P%A9tanque
