Some of the most beautifully landscaped and most expansive gardens in the area. Well worth the visit to see each one. There is a lot to see so take the time to walk around as much as you would like. A bike may also be nice to have if you are just visiting the parks and not entering any buildings.

This is also located within the Sanssouci Park area. Built by Persius and Stüler between 1851 and 1864 in a style inspired by mediterranean architecture. A columned entrance hall, a belvedere crowning the palace, and two towers linked with a gallery of columns clearly show that this building was supposed to copy the villa style of Italian Renaissance. It too has extensive and beautiful gardens to visit. There is an admission charge to visit the interior but the top walkway is free and gives great views of the gardens and of Potsdam An der Historischen Muhle Potsdam

Around 1790, shortly after the death of Friedrich II., the Historische M?hle was built on the site of a wooden wind mill. The story "Muller von Sanssouci" by Johann Peter Hebel tells the story of the mill operator who got justice at court to keep the mill despite the disturbing clattering and noise The mill, was destroyed in 1945 and was rebuilt around 1993.

The palace is crowned with numerous gods and demigods looking down from the balustrade, who were supposed to symbolise Prussia's lustre and glory. The King used the palace as living quarters for himself and his guests; the royal family used it as a summer residence right into the 20th century.

This is towards the entrance of the Sanssouci park and displays the quaintness that has remained in this great Brandenburg town. Be sure to check out the small cafe's that line these alleyways. There is reminents of old Italian architectural style.
