  • This is an area where you will find a busy train stationplenty of shops and food vendors, live music and the list goes on. It is one of the hardest plazas to miss in Berlin due to the Fernsehturm tower. You will also see many youth around which are reminiscent of Germany's punk era. They are great fun and love life!

  • This 60's era tower was used as a TV tower. Built in the height of the Cold War it was meant to send out a message to the West. You can visit the top of the tower which has a revolving observatory. On a clear day, they say you can see for almost 40km. There is a restaurant up top as well. This tower also stands as a good reference point in Berlin, and one of Europe's tallest structures.

  • This beautiful building has gone through many changes. As the seat of the German Parliment, it has been involved in many monumental changes as Germany has passed different hands. The German Republic was announced here in the early 1900's, fire gutted most of the inside out in the 1930's and required extensive rennovations. It is where the Nazi government began to rise to power. And graffiti can still be seen inside from soldiers stationed here in the Second World War. There is a cafe on the top floor with stunning views. Mke a reservation for the cafe, the lines can be extremely long and it will get you inside quicker.

  • This is one of the most striking aspects of this remodelled building. Built by Norman Foster, this glass dome houses a glass "tornado" on the interior of the Reichstag. The very top of which houses a great cafe with wonderful veiws of the city. It is lit up at night and could almost serve as a beacon of light.

  • The area where Berlin was split in two. Also one of the most recognizable monuments of the city. Built in 1791 as a Neo-Classical arch and gateway. Equipped with a statue of the Goddess of Victory on top. It is the entrance for the Under denLinden street.

  • The red bricked town hall stands just off the plaza which sits the Fernsehturm tower. It is the official seat of the mayor and was built in the late 1800's. Badly damaged during WWII it was used by the East Berlin Magistrate in the 50's after its reconstruction.

  • This is the site where many East Berliners attempted to cross into the West amidst dogs and searchlights. Complete with a replica portrait of "Charlie". The original portrait was removed after the removal of the wall.

  • The museum is in a house just across from the actual checkpoint. It houses many forms of memorabilia from all the handmade devices and techniques to smuggle goods and people out of the Eastern barrier of Berlin. There are many goods to be sold just near there that are replicas of the old communist era. Take look on the pavement and you will see some of the remaining concrete that was a part of the original Berlin Wall.
