"Chaos for the senses" Mumbai by bpwillet

Mumbai was my first impression of India. I arrived here as a starting point for my trip to Goa. I did not go with a package so we planned the trip from Mumbai to Goa via train. The timing was just right to give us a day of touring around before leaving for Goa and also before our flight left to return to London. We hired a taxi for the entire day and asked them to take us to some of the main sites. On the way back we were able to get a chance to see a few other sites we had missed the first time around. If you are arriving early in the morning or at least by noon you can see quite a bit. However, if Elephant Island is on your itinerary you will need a full day to see this as the boats take about 45min-1 hour to get to the island and return.
