Tunisia

If you could find the best of both worlds, Tunisia would be one of those places. You have the feel of the Mediterranean, the glitz of Europe, and the laid back, easy going attitude that is found among many North African cultures. It is hard to believe that in such a small land mass, so many things can be found. There is scuba diving in the north, mountains, dense forests, Roman archeological sites that are well preserved in many areas of the country, cultural exhibits in many of its major cities, and the vastness, and pristine beauty of the Sahara to the south. It truly should go on anyone's list for a North African experience.

The Roman sites around Tunisia are fantastic. I had the opportunity to visit a few of them. They are well preserved and astonishing to look at. You really should try to see them if you can. Many of them don't leave much else to the imagination. You can actually walk down the same roads used by the romans and step through the thresholds of homes that have been abandoned. Quite amazing.
Gammarth, Tunisia
Tunisia is one of those exceptional places where you can find anything you want in a vacation spot, cultural excursion, or adventure trips. There is so much to see an do there it would be hard to stay in a resort town your entire time. Try to go around and see other sites and areas in this beautiful country. You will not be easily disappointed.

I passed by Hotel Megara in Gammarth in 2006 but it had gone broke! A shame for it was a nice place. Try La Tour Blanche a little further on the road.

Excellent page! I just visited Tunisia on a one-day excursion from a cruise---Sidi Bou Said and Carthage. It was so interesting that I wished we were in Tunisia for a least 2-3 days more.
