Jewel of Asia

ONe Night in Bangkok -(is enough)

To the Western Eye, Thailand is exotic. It is also one of the safest countries in which to travel. Too often, the exotic is scary, but in this Buddhist country, violent crime is very low and smiles are genuine.
If you are a thai cuisine lover, the many regional dishes are a delight ! The large noodle dishes of the north are unknown to the westerner for the most part, but should have a place on more thai menus. Its understated. If you like thai food, take a cooking course !! Its a real hoot and suprisingly easy once you obtain the ingredients.
The many temples of Thailand are spectacular. Bangkok, of course, is home to many of the more known temples and palaces, but there are many further north that are less crowded and set in natural parks. This makes the stolling about much more pleasurable.
Bangkok is Bangkok, very congested, filled with tuk tuk smoke and noise. Of the many people I've spoken to, everyone seems to get the "Bangkok Gunk", inflamed throat and clogged sinuses. No wonder, its the most poluted city on earth.
Still, it has a charm of its own.

Yes, Phi Phi has a serious waste disposal problem. I couldn't believe the sewer-like stench on the island as well.
