Enghien, a hidden jewel | Enghien Cathedral from the Chateau Grounds |
I moved to Enghien Belgium in 1996 from New Hampshire USA. No where have I found a place so charming and old world. I suppose one gets used to their surroundings and takes it all for granted after a period of time. Life is much slower, people live and die in the same house and there are no malls. There are, insread, trips to the local patisserie for baguettes, stops into my local pub for a abbaye beer (Westmalle Triple is the BEST) and walking the dog in the chateau grounds.
The huge chateau grounds, is a virtual playground for hikes in the woods, summer evening open air symphonies, art expositions and viewing relics and structures from the 13th century to present. It is medieval europe at its finest. |
