"Living in New Albany" New Albany by lunarstar

New Albany Travel Guide: 8 reviews and 5 photos

This is an old and quiet town. 5minutes away from downtown Louisville, Kentucky and only 15min. away from Ceasars riverboat. The downtown area of New Albany consists of many churches of gothic, greek, and traditional architecture. You will find most decorated in stained glass, and stone. On main street is a lovely historic district that's in front of the flood wall. Tours are usually priced by donation and will give you much of the history not just of the mansions themselves, but of the history of New Albany. Most of the restaurants and shops are family businesses, so you get that friendly "at home" hospitality.

Before crossing the river

Before crossing the river into Louisville KY, check out Clarksville IN. It's the shopping area many locals go before heading into "big city" traffic. Clarksville IN has two malls side by side, along with many restaurants, gas stations, 3 big screen movie theatres, and smaller stores that include Target, K-mart, and Big Lots.

Night Life

Most of the night life is driving around, seeing movies, but if you like real theatre the Derby dinner playhouse is just a hop skip away into Jeffersonville IN. Which is only about 3min. from Clarksville IN. There is also a local autorium that many local bands and play performances that are more directed towards the teenage audiences.

So, if you're traveling into the Southern Indiana area, there is plenty to do, see and lots of interesting people to meet. It's just finding out where to go. The best places to find out, is the Hotel staff. They live, work, and play in the area.
Have a great time during your visit, and who knows we might even run into each other.
