This trip to Hawaii began back in April when my brother bought me a ticket for my birthday on Hawaiian Airlines at a 'knock-down' price since they had just started flights to Australia. I had that ticket in the back of my mind all year and especially through the final university exams in late November. Finally we were on the plane! Dashing over the Pacific Ocean and on our way to Hawaii!

We had 6 nights all up and split them: 3 nights in Wakiki - on the Island of Oahu and 3 nights in Waikoloa - on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Seeing as the trip was fairly short I have kept all my tips on this page - the state of Hawaii rather than disperse them across the two different pages....

Waikiki Beach - Oahu

I guess Waikiki is the essence of the Hawaiian Islands in many ways. It is the sort of ambassador - in that it takes pride of place on the postcards etc...

We had a fantastic three nights here staying right on the beach and fitting in a hectic schedule of swimming, shopping, dining and even a bit of hiking.

Waikoloa and the Big Island of Hawaii

After the few days on Waikiki, it was off to the big island of Hawaii. Theis is the Hawaii famous for black lava landscapes, and the awesome power of beauty of her active volcanoe....you can see why the Hawaiians revere the fire-goddess Pele so much.

We spent our time in Waikoloa, at the amazing Hilton Waikoloa - a 30 millon dollar resort, reouted to contain over 3 million dollars wort of artworks alone! It was certainly extravagant to a level we had never seen before!
