How to survive in Budapest: Two rules for tourists
  • Tip Rating:
  • Budapest How to survive in Budapest
  • Detail of a building
  • by Gentleman75
  • Send Photo to a Friend
  • Favorite Thing: Don't wear Your backpack on Your back if You are on public transport vehicle or in shopping centre, because some pickpockets maybe in work! One time I took my coat on the back of a chair in the West End City Center (big shopping centre in Budapest) and I sat down. One hour later, when I put on my coat, my mobile phone was already stolen from its inner pocket. :(

Keep one of Your eyes on the groud to dodge the outputs of the dogs and the other one on the marvellous buildings.

General Tips: 20th August - the state-foundation of Hungary
  • Tip Rating:
  • Budapest - Low-budget air-parade
  • Low-budget air-parade
  • by Gentleman75
  • Send Photo to a Friend
  • Favorite Thing: It's the day of the state-foundation of Hungary. This day is a national holiday, when there are a lot of happening all day: air- and water-parade, exhibitions, saint-right procession and firework.

I thought before this day I will make lot of photos, share my experiences and offer You to visit Hungary on this day.
Unfortunately in this year it was a low-budget celebration and there were only a few things worth to make a photo about.

I cannot offer You to visit Hungary on this day by this day! It's a shame...

    Fondest Memory: Low-budget...

  • Favorite Thing: The Chain Bridge (Lanchid) on 15th March. 15th March is a National Holiday in Hungary to the memory of Revolution and Independence War of 1848-1849.
On back, You can see a part of the Buda Castle and the funicular which brings You up/down to/from the Buda Castle.

In front, there is our "national lion" and on back, our "national bird", called Turul, tries to fly away.

Budapest Bridges (hidek): Elizabeth Bridge (Erzsebet hid)
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: The new Elizabeth Bridge on 15th March and the Gellert Hill on back. The old bridge was nicer, but unfortunately it was explosed in the WWII on 18th January 1945. The new one is only 40 years old.

  • Favorite Thing: If You walk in Budapest and see the imposant old buildings, give time to Yourself to explore the details. It's worth to stop for a minute.

These motives can be seen on the top of the Vasarcsarnok (Market Hall) which is situated in Vamhaz korut.

If You would like to read more about Vasarcsarnok, take a look at my Things to do tips on Budapest page.

Hello Andras, I went to Budapest last summer and I loved the city. If I ever go back, I'll be using your tips for sure. Cheers! Polyana

Klassz kis oldal. Különösen a Petőfi híd környékéről készült, a Budai oldalt ábázoló éjszakai kép nagyon szép!A Vígadót azóta lepucolták, ideje útra kelni, és lefotózni:)

Spent a few days in Budapest and really loved it. Found the West End Shopping Centre by accident and found it fascinating.
