Favorite Thing: I offer You to get to the Salt-Mine on foot from the village - if You are in good condition.

Fondest Memory: On the path You can see some closed salt-mine entrance and You can take a lot of deep breath from the fresh and clear air.

Bring a T-shirt in Your bag, becuase You will need to change Your sweaty T-shirt before You visit the Salt-Mine.

Favorite Thing: Hallstatt has a very little territory so there is only a litte place for the cemetry.
Because of this after a defined time the human remains are exhumed from old graves and placed in the Charnel-House since 1600. The bones are often ornately decorated.

Favorite Thing: There are two slide-ways in the Salt-Mine.

Fondest Memory: If You are brave, You can take a new speed record at the second slide-way, but be carefull! There is a speedometer! But the photo is not taken by the police... :)))

Favorite Thing: Krippenstein is 2100m high above sea-level, so if You are in good condition then You can climb this mountain or You can choose the Dachstein Cable Car to get there.

The cable car starts from Obertraun (it's about 5km from Hallstatt on side of the Lake Hallstatt).
The cable car has three stops:
1. Valley station Obertraun 608 m
2. Middlelstation Schönbergalm 1350 m
3. Top station Krippenstein 2100 m

From Krippenstein there is an excellent view to the lake.
At the middlestation there are two caves (Ice Cave and Mammoth Cave). It's worth to visit these caves.

You can buy combined ticket about 25-30 Euro (I don't remember the exact price).
It contains an Obertraun - Krippenstein return fare, a one time entrance to the Mammoth and the Ice cave and a photo.

Fondest Memory: There is an excellent view to the Lake of Hallstatt from Krippenstein - if the weather is good.

You have to just enjoy the silence here.
