I worked in Okinawa for a month and had a great time. From my US perspective, Okinawa seems like a cross between West Virginia and Bermuda. It is less affluent (and less expensive) than the rest of Japan but it has beautiful beaches and a subtropical climate. I understand it is a popular honeymoon and seaside destination for the rest of Japan. I particularly enjoyed the food and the scuba diving. There are dozens of great dive sites around Okinawa that do not require a boat trip - all you do it wade into the water!

How interesting! I knew about the worm in the bottles of Tequila, but the snake in the bottle of sake is new to me!!! Great tips!
