Lovely lovely Lauterbrunnen

A cool village

View from Lauterbrunnen station towards Grutschalp
Lauterbrunnen is sometimes the place to be! It has many attractions as a base resort - convenience of road and rail links, some fine camping sites (Camping Jungfrau the best imho), nice restaurants and cafes, superb views of Staubbach falls and the whole of the valley. No views of Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau but down the valley to the Breithorn is impressive. Choice of rail routes to Wengen then Kleine Sheidegg then Jungfraujoch OR to Grutschalp then Murren or bus to Stechelberg then Gimmelwald then Murren. Starting point for most trips is the railway station with good car parking facilities adjacent.
A simple map showing the area

Go to Kleine Sheidegg and beyond ...

Just thought I would add this little map of the area. You can spend three weeks (or more) just discovering this small region. There is so much to offer for the hikers (all seasons).

The Lauterbrunnen valley

Not exactly tte classic view of Lauterbrunnen, but taken during the rail journey between Lauterbrunnen and Wengen. Not the clearest of pictures but captures the atmosphere of the low winter (November) sun and the Staubbach falls.
