Getting TO/AROUND: There are a number of streets in Toronto that change names part way along. It can be confusing if you don't know about it. Here are some of the major ones. Bloor St. becomes Danforth Ave at the Don Valley. College Street becomes Carlton St. at Yonge or just east of it. Peter Street becomes Blue Jays Way south of King St.

Transportation: Fake TTC Tickets

'Mode': AROUND
Category: Subway/Metro
Getting TO/AROUND: Don't buy transit tickets or passes from anyone trying to sell them to you other than a Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) employee. There is a flourishing black market in Toronto in counterfeit transit tickets. Often scammers will pose as a homeless person or someone who needs change and all they have to offer in return is transit tickets. Don't fall for it. They are fake and if you try to use them for TTC fare and get caught it is a big fine, and you might even get arrested. Some businesses are certified to sell TTC tickets, however since you are a tourist and less likely to be able to discern the genuine article from fakes, I would suggest you play it safe and only buy your tickets, tokens and passes at a TTC station, or have the exact fare to get on the bus or streetcar. It just saves a lot of hassles.
