"A Brief Jaunt to NYC" New York City by MissAntarctica2002

I have been to NYC twice now, and I am hooked. I would go back any chance I get. Interestingly, my two trips there were about as different as you can get.
My first trip was back in 1998, with my then-boyfriend (now husband), who had already been there several times. We were both just starting out in our careers and budget was very much the focus of this trip. We spent over 12 hours on a Greyhound bus from Toronto to NYC, playing Uno and Othello all the way, while munching on animal crackers. We stayed at a hostel/flophose on Broome St., in a "luxury room" so named because it had it's own bathroom.
I remember the very first thing we did after our red-eye bus journey was go to this Eastern European restaurant at the crack of dawn for pancakes, and then headed straight for the Guggenheim. By sheer luck the Whitney had a Keith Haring retrospective, which floored me because he is among the top five on the list of my favourite artists (a long list).
This trip wasn't glamourous by any stretch, but is was exhilarating because it was my first t ime travelling without the direction of my parents and on my own nickel.
In the spring of 2003 my hubby arranged a special weekend getaway for my birthday. I had been having a very stressful time at work and needed a break. He booked a last-minute flight from Buffalo and the "Romance Package" at the Library Hotel. This five-star property is in the heart of Manhattan and we spent our days flitting around shopping and going to Museums. I had a migraine, which put a small damper on things, but otherwise it was sheer bliss.
- Pros:Museums, street vendors.
- Cons:Expensive
- In a nutshell:A place to visit again and again

great pages you have here. my trip to egypt was fantastic! thank you for the birthday wish!
I, too, have a feel for the eclectic and am a sucker for street vendor food! That is a gorgeous colorful photo of Macy’s. Nice tips on NYC. Awwww, a hotel that focuses on literary pursuits – heaven!
