My Philosophy About Travelling | View from atop the mast of 2041 |
I believe travelling not merely an activity, but a state of mind. Travelling is about being open-minded and aventurous. It is about trying new things, taking in the lessons the world has to offer you, and doing your best to contribute something in return. Thankfully, you can do this anywhere. In my books, the more places, the better. But don't take home for granted. "Travel" there too and take advantage of all it has to offer.
Needless to say, I enjoy travelling when I get the chance. I've been fortunate in the places I've had the opportunity to visit.
A lot of my pages aren't rated yet, so I'd really appreciate any ratings choose to give my tips. I consider Antarctica and Toronto to be my two best pages at the moment. |
| | What My Travels Say About Me Here are a few of the things that one can glean about me from my travel pages: 1. I am a real nerd and that doesn't bother me in the slightest. 2. I love books and am very active at BookCrossing.com. I enjoy reading all kinds of books, and I am always on the lookout for books that catch my fancy. |

| | 3. I love arts and crafts. I like to create many things in my spare time and when I travel I tend to visit a lot of galleries, museums and shops related to my interests.
4. I am an avid environmentalist. I believe strongly in the importance of respecting the web of life. This translates into a passion for sustainable living, and you'll notice that I've visited a lot of environmental projects and exhibits. This doesn't mean that I am disdainful, shrill or preachy about it. Folks like that get on my nerves too. |

| | 5. I've got quite a sweet tooth.
6. I'm a sucker for kitsch. I can't resist a funky old diner or wacky museum, or kooky roadside attraction of any kind. |
| | Who is Snarfy? Snarfy is my mascot. He came to be associated with me through the Markeroni Challenge. Markeroni.com is a website that enables people to log their visits to historic sites, markers, and monuments. Every year the site holds the Markeroni Challenge, a friendly event where keeners like me commit to visiting a certain number of sites within a specific time frame. For the past two years I have signed up to do 100 within 10 months. To prove that you were there you must take a photo of yourself at the site, or you can substitute a mascot. Since I don't like to post pictures of myself on the Internet too often, this is how Snarfy came into my life. Since I always take him travelling with me, he has come to have many more adventures in addition to the usual Markeroni stuff. He's better looking than me anyway. |
