Veligandu Island Resort

Paradise found!!

Veligandu from the main jetty
Veligandu is truly the most relaxing place we've ever been to.
Soft white sands and clear blue water full of fish are the two best "attractions" in the Maldives.
Take your suncream and snorkel and prepare to chill out!!

Facts and figures

Veligandu Island is situated in the small Rashdoo Atoll about 50km west of Male. It takes about 20minutes transfer time on the seaplane.

The island is about 500m long including a 200m sandbank on one end which is where the island derives its name. The sandbank is perfect for sunbathing and snorkelling (its also at the same end as the bar/restaurant!)

There are 73 rooms on the island so only about 140 guests maximum. There are superior rooms (45), deluxe rooms on the beach (8) and water villas at one end of the island (20). All rooms have air con and hot/cold water, mini bar and coffee/tea maker and a CD player.

There are no real bad locations on the island but the water villas are at the opposite end to the bar area and staff quarters etc so probably the quietest location.

There is a bar/coffee shop/restaurant building at the sandbank end of the island. Also there is a spa (very good!) and a fully equipped gym (probably very good!!)

All meals are served buffet style 5 nights a week and a la carte for the other two. Food is of very high quality and didn't have one bad meal in two weeks. Fresh fish is superb and plenty of salad to counter act all the lovely deserts on offer. Self control is needed otherwise the trousers will definitely not fit after two weeks here!
chilling in the sea!

Stress free days!

A picture of me reading my book and feeling more relaxed than ever before!
The fish swim around your feet whilst you relax - total bliss!

Lots of good advice. We are going to Veligandu in March 2005 for our honeymoon and am now sure we have booked the most beautiful and romantic island possible. Thanks. Faith and Gary.
