Drevljanka, evening from the 9th floor. - Petrozavodsk

The main reason for my spending six weeks in Petrozavodsk was my field study at the centre Rodnik for disabled children. Rodnik is situated in Drevljanka, a suburb with around 40 000 inhabitants, constructed in 1987.

Petrozavodsk a beautiful town

Founded 1703 by Peter the Great, Petrozavodsk celebrated it's 300 th anniversairy this year. In the town centre we can see architechture from many different eres.

Surroundings

The chruch in Martial Waters

Not far from Petrozavodsk is Martial Waters situated. The story tells that this place with it's healthy waters was discoverd during the reign of Peter the Great. From the museum in this place we learn that Peter was there by himself and helped in constructing the church in the picture.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Charming town in beautiful surroindings.
Cons:Terribly cold in the winter... ;o)
