Located in the Hebei Province and 256km from Beijing. Surrounded by mountains and looks much like a rural area. A quiet and peaceful small town. It has the largest existence royal garden also known as "Rehe" because of the ever flowing and unfrozen hot spring.

We took a coach from Beijing to Chengde and the journey lasted about 5 hours. Along the route, we could catch part of the Great Wall...from far to near. If you think Beijing was cold, then Chengde was freezing... with a temperature as low as 5 degree! Now we know why the Emperor built a "summer resort" in Chengde - a cool fridge in a hot summer!! ;-) My 9 years old nephew was happily posing for picture while my 5 year old nephew refused to stay outdoor!!

We had a pleasant surprise though...it was snowing as we were leaving Chengde the next morning.

Strong living things...

The only animals we saw still roaming around in this cold weather. Our deer friends staring at us as we wondered how they withstand a temperature that was -5degree??!! They don't look like they have very thick fur...hmm....

How do I delete that man??

Man's greatest invention to improve our civilisation. I love this picture and thought it would look perfect without that "man" in that small left-hand corner... ;-)

By the way, that's the spring that NEVER frozen even in winter.
