The City of Winkler is located approximately 100 kms south of Winnipeg. Winkler just recently became a city, so the population is around 10,000 people and growing quickly. There are many small villages in the surrounding areas. In the past five years or so, there have been a large number of European immigrants making Winkler their home. Winkler is a mostly Mennonite community with many German speaking people. There are several shopping centres and a wide variety of businesses in town. Winkler will be celebrating its Centennial year in 2006.
