Nightlife Spot: The great outdoors
This is a criticism of Toronto after dark - you can barely see the stars!!!! Oh yes.. there is the moon because it shines bright, but it is next to impossible in the middle of this great metropolis to do any star gazing with all the city lights. That came home to me during the Great Black Out - I was out on my balcony and could actually see constellations! Perhaps we need a few more dimming of the lights to enjoy more of that!

Nightlife Spot: Theatres
The Toronto Centre for the Performing Arts has gone through a few name changes. Initially it was the Ford Centre, and "Showboat" was the first musical that opened there, with extensive controversy. Garth Drubinsky (spelling?) was the theatre man and when his empire fell apart, so did the theatre. It was taken over by the the city of North York, and became the North York Centre for the Performing Arts. With the creation of "mega-Toronto", the theatre became "The Toronto Centre for the Performing Arts". Changes have happened around it too, as there had been a huge parking lot to the south of the theatre. That is now the home of several apartment buildings and office towers.

Nightlife Spot: My Cousin's Farm 30 km North of Toronto
I was out for dinner at my cousin's place and saw the sky starting to change, and caught this sunset. If you look closely, far in the distance you can see the Niagara Escarpment. The other thing I saw later in the evening was something I rarely see in Toronto, and that was stars! It used to be so much quieter, but now you do hear a lot more traffic noise. It's amazing how the city is drawing ever nearer.

Nightlife Spot: City views by night
When your apartment faces west you see more Sunsets than Sunrises. Of course some morning I WILL catch a lovely picture of the sunrise hitting the buildings around and showing the magic, but until that day happens, I will just continue to capture Sunsets. They say that the red sky comes from the amount of pollutants in the air ... however it happens, I just adore the wonders of the colours of the setting sun, and how it shows up on the camera lens too.

Dress Code: If you are out on your balcony and don't want to shock anyone who can see you - I happen to have other buildings around me, with people who might wonder about that woman taking pictures night after night! - wear clothes that you don't mind being seen in. Frilly or fancy dress is not necessary! Unless, of course, you want or that's what you were wearing when you went dashing out onto the balcony to take your pictures.

Nightlife Spot: Smokey Joe's
This Smokey Joe location is on Yonge Street 2 blocks north of Sheppard. I've only been there a couple of times for drinks and for a chatroom (not VT) meeting. I found it rather loud - but then that is me and I'm not one for loud bars. It certainly seems to be popular year round. Not sure how smokey it is now that smoking is banned.
