Lake Placid during the Olympics Being at the Olympic games is magical! No matter how cold it is, there is still a warmth and excitement. In 1980 I was a student at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario Canada. Lake Placid was a "mere" 4 - 4 1/2 hr drive away. One of my friends convinced me that we would be crazy to miss the opportunity to go to the games when they were so close. So, we sent away for tickets, and were able to purchase tickets for the the Pairs Short Program in Figure Skating, and the last training run of the Women's Downhill Skiing. Please check out my travelogue for more details on the 1980 Winter Olympics at Lake Placid. |

gharri7 Wed Dec 24, 2008 00:36 UTC Hi I enjoyed reading about your trek to those games. I was fortunate enough to be asked to be a cook for the games that year. My best memory was feeding the American hockey team for a special celebratory dinner after they got their gold medals. | hunterV Sun Mar 30, 2008 12:21 UTC Oh, yes, I remember that Olympiad! Thanx! | jholley534 Wed Jan 21, 2004 00:05 UTC wow, what a great experience.
