Zoo / Aquarium/ Animal parks: See the flora & fauna of Australia within Sydney
  • Tip Rating:
  • I've described Taronga Zoo in my intro to Sydney, but I must say again that it is a must see. If you aren't going to have a chance to wander up into Croc territory... you can see close up one of those huge Salties that Steve Irwin liked to play with. The birds of Australia are there to be enjoyed or giggle at. Your chance to see a Koala in the wilds is not too likely, much less an echidna, dingo or wombat... well here at the zoo you have your opportunity. I will always love seeing the big cats and apes of Africa & Asia, and Taronga offered me that chance again. The sister zoo in Dubbo, beyond the Blue Mtns wasn't as great, except for the huge tortoises.

Directions: Best to take the ferry directly to the zoo from Circular Quay.

You obviously loved Australia as most tourist do. I'm a very lucky person, in that I had the opportunity to choose Australia as my new home in 1949.

Great pages Jane. You give me inspiration to develop my own Sydney pages. I'm now gonna check out the steak house at Lane Cove. Thanks for the tip.
