As a Croatian, currently living in England, I have a unique opportunity to explore these two countries in a unique way. And I love it. Croatia

So, here it is, I decided to update my pages, welcome to my updated homepage! These beautiful photos are just some of my photos of Split, my hometown, and here are few words I wrote about it.

In Dalmatia, the most southern county of Croatia, there are countless jewels stretching from Zadar to Dubrovnik and Split is in the middle. Advantages of Split’s location were noticed centuries ago by the emperor himself. In the 3rd century Diocletian, the emperor of Rome, found a retreat in a beautiful palace he had built on the coast of the Adriatic sea. The palace that is today the centre of the Croatian city of Split.

Split

It is no coincidence or a game with words when the Adriatic is described as ‘Blue Adriatic’. Its water is crisp and clear and abundance of sea life makes it a reliable source of great food. Combine that with local wine and the smile on your face is – guaranteed.
With a Christianity in its core and St. Duje as a protector firmly overlooking the ancient streets and modern nomads, tourists, on their quest to discover, describe and explain, the city kept its charm and unique atmosphere.

Split

Many times I walked through the centre and admired Peristyle, the central square of the palace.
I do the circles religiously. From Perystile through narrow streets full of people and all types of shops, with the sound of the church bells and the words said in Dalmatian dialect, to the People’s Square- commonly known as Pjaca (if you want to try to say it right pronunciation resembles word piazza).
A coffee on Pjaca, some people watching, buy a pastry and walk to another cobbled street, more shops, pass the monument of Marko Marulic and end on Riva.

Split

If it is a hot day in the summer just walk through the substructures of the palace, it looks like a high-ceiling tunnel when you look at it from Riva. It is always cooler here than outside. Loads of souvenirs to look at on my left and on my right and the biggest steps ever at the end of it (do the steps carefully if you are in high heels) and you are on Peristyle again...

Split marina

The sun and the sea, beautiful sunsets. It is all here. Amazing views from the Marjan hill (the view of the marina), beautiful architecture, museums and galleries (gallery Mestrovic), harbours, variety of restaurants, relaxing walks - it all makes Split beautiful.
