Name of Shop: IKEA
I love this store! They have great knick-knacks in the market area--kitchen items, rugs, dried flowers, baskets. The furniture is contemporary Swedish style...mostly assemble-it-yourself pieces, kitchens, childrens' rooms, plus funky basic upholstered sofas and chairs. I like being able to walk into their pre-designed rooms--you get a feeling of being in someone's house or apartment. I love my IKEA sofa--it's tomato red and so comfortable!
What To Pay: IKEA is cheap-cheap.

Name of Shop: Mitsuwa Marketplace
When I am in the mood to make my own sushi, I come here to buy my ingredients. This supermarket carries everything Japanese--produce, fish, noodles, Pocky, you name it. It has Japanese fast-food places as well as sit-down restaurants. Across the street is an indoor marketplace with Kinokuniya Bookstore, Utsuwa-no-Yakata pottery, stationery shop selling washi paper, and a Neoprint machine!! For those of you unfamiliar with Neoprint, it's a photo machine which dispenses tiny photo stickers. I make my family and friends pose for a shot whenever we come here.
What To Buy: All kinds of Japanese goods
What To Pay: Not quite as expensive as Japan, but not cheap, either.
