Fondest Memory: Gasping at the sight of the Columbus Monument, as he points to the new world. Being an Italian-American, this monument really moved me! This was one of the first glimpses of Barcelona when we first arrived.

Fondest Memory: We walked from Las Ramblas through the Gothic Quarter and found ourselves here, at the cathedral. I have a memory of a street band playing in an alley nearby, and the acoustics were perfect! We couldn't resist buying one of their homemade CD's, they were that good!

Fondest Memory: Here is a view by day~~one of my favorite places to just hang out and relax! I don't think you will miss this beautiful place, great for people-watching and sketching.

Favorite Thing: You must come here at night. We happened to catch a water fountain show, with the water dancing to the music. Just fantastic!! I'm not sure if it was a regularly scheduled event during the summer, but it may be.

Favorite Thing: Oh, I really loved this part of town. You will, too, with all the old architecture, quaint shops, and local people.

Favorite Thing: Definitely one of my favorite things in Barcelona! Yes, you've heard it called Gaudi's unfinished masterpiece. It is unbelievable! Of, course you must climb to the top to see all the strange gargoyles along the way. See my must-see tips for more pics!

Favorite Thing: Don't miss the delightful details, like this turtle at the base of a column of the Sagrada Familia. I recall spending time climbing the towers (not for the claustrophobic!) and being surprised along the way by the carvings and sculptures.

Favorite Thing: This picture does not do it justice at all!!! The glass on the facade was like glitter and diamonds in the sunlight. You must see this for yourself! See the balconies inspired by Venetian masks?? Do not miss.

Favorite Thing: Not a straight wall to be found here in this one-of-a-kind apartment building. Go inside! The floors undulate, the doors are rounded, all surfaces curve!! My favorite work of architecture by Gaudi, hands down. Will somebody get me a price on an apartment here???

Favorite Thing: In sharp contrast to La Pedrera, this building is much more geometric, with symmetry and straight lines. The wrought iron gate and gargoyles give it a gothic style.
