Getting TO/AROUND: There are actually only 2 lines of Metro in Istanbul. Both on european side. 1. The modern line from Taksim to Levent: Taksim - Osmanbey - Sisli/Mecediyekoy - Gayrettepe - 1.Levent - 4.Levent 2. From Aksaray to Airport: Aksaray - Emniyet - Ulubatli Topkapi - Bayrampasa - Sagmalcilar - Kartaltepe - Otogar (Big Autostation) - Terazidere - Davutpasa - Metrter - Zeytinburnu - Bakirkoy - Bahcelievler - Sirinevler/Atakoy - Yenibosna - Havaalani (Airport) This line is not only under the ground, but on the surface too. Note that there is also a tram line similar to the second metro line which goes only on surface from Eminonu to Zeytinburnu.

Getting TO/AROUND: There is only one tram line in Istanbul, except the small line in Taksim. And the tram looks like the metro train but on surface, actually it's simillar to the one which goes underground in Istanbul. The line goes from Eminonu to Zeytinburnu: Eminonu - Sirkeci - Gulhane - Sultanahmet - Cemberlitas - Beyazit - Universite - Laleli - Yusufpasa/Aksaray - Haseki - Findikzade - Capa - Pazartekke - Topkapi - Cevizlibag - Ataturk Ogrenci Yurdu - Merkezefendi - Seytinzam - Aksemsettin - Mihatpasa - Zeytinburnu You should note that some trains from Eminonu go only till Cevizlibag.

Transportation: Taksim Tramway

Getting TO/AROUND: There is a tram line in Taksim, very short one which is more for turists then for transportation. The trams on this line are old-fashion ones. The line is from Taksim Square to the Tunel: Taksim - Aga Camii - Galatasaray - Petits Champs - Tunel. You can take the tram, but you can enjoy more just walking from Taksim Square to Tunel. And when you'll be coming back - take the tram! There is also a 'tunel' underground from the end point to Karakoy.

Transportation: Tunel - 2nd underground in the world!

Getting TO/AROUND: There is an undeground line from 'Beyoglu Tunel' to 'Karakoy' called tunel. It is supposed to be the 3rd undeground transport in the world after the one from New York and London, which was used since Osman Period. Some even say that it's second in the world! I would say it's worth a trip. The undeground line is not plane and is going down from Beyoglu to Karakoy. It is moved by an engine I guess, and when one vagon is going down, the other one is coming up.

Getting TO/AROUND: Check the map for better understanding of transport tips. Legend: - The red line is the metro line from Taksim to Levent. (Note that there is no line between Taksim and Yenikapi, instead there are buses to Aksaray through Yenikapi) - The blue line is the 2nd Metro line (half underground half on surface) - The green line is the tram line - The black line is the suburban line

Getting TO/AROUND: Sea Bus can be a really time saving transportation in Istanbul, esspecialy when you travel from Europe to Asia (or from Asia to Europe :), or for long distances. For Example a trip from Kadikoy (Asia) to Eminonu (Europe) will took about 15-20 minutes with normal boat. There are also fast boats, which mostly are used in the summer time. And beside all these it offer you the possibility to watch Istanbul from water. Buy another photo film, though you gonna neeed it!!

Transportation: Taksi

Getting TO/AROUND: You can take a taksi... All the taksi's are yellow in Istanbul. And you dont have to wait for it, as its always plenty of them on the street. The taksi drivers drive like crazy! but the ethernal question is - will I be cheted? If you'll let them! Almost all the taksi's in Istanbul are TOFAS (turkish brand), made exactly as old FIAT Regata. And its like a tradition, if its a taksi its Tofas! Just recently you can notice new Fiat Doblo on streets (really comfortable if you ask me) and some Renault Megane. All are yellow!
