The history of the Stift Dürnstein starts in 1372 with its initial construction. The Stift Dürnstein was then taken over in 1410 by Augustaner Choirmen. During the 15. century they built the monastery into a gothic style. 300 years after the founding, Hieronymus Übelbacher was elected to head the monastery, and due to its terrible state at the time, he ordered its renovation in barocke style, which is how it is largely seen today.

The Stift Dürnstein was restored in 1985 and more work was carried out in 1994.

I was impressed with the Stift Dürnstein and it should be missed.
