UNDER CONSTRUCTION -- PHOTOS SOON In October 2002, my partner Andrea Castaneda and I spent 12 days -- our honeymoon -- in the Seychelles. We had a wonderful, magical time, and we are eager to share our tips with you.
We read a ton before we went. There's lots of good info out there (here at VT and at Lonely Planet in particular), but a lot is wrong or old. We hope you'll find this information useful as you read it with that other information. |
Seychelles on the Cheap In particular, many guides and sites talked about how expensive the Seychelles are. We found that it was a largely wrong-headed claim. Some things are very costly (alcohol, rental cars) and others just aren't available. But we spent almost two weeks there, ate and stayed and beached and snorkeled well, and didn't nearly break the bank. One major solution for us was renting a self-catering cabin and eating in, which we'll talk about elsewhere on this site.
We should admit that we travelled for free thanks to a deal with British Airways (on which I travel for business frequently), and from the U.S. airfares are quite exorbitant. Get there on your own -- but once there, we've got lots of ideas.
