Seems a movie set, but it's real! | the west side of the walls |
Montagnana is a medieval town, with a complete (i mean 360°, moat and all) and nearly untouched medieval wall..... See it at sunset.... it's magic!
Really a special place and, being out from the main touristic stream, still a quiet country town.... with a few tourist strolling around.
P.S. just a note, because i see that VT does not place Montagnana (like many others little places) in the appropriate region. It's in Veneto, in the south west of Padova province (near junction with Vicenza and Verona territories). And, worst, you will find on VT more than a Montagnana page.... Don't take the wrong one! To go there, by car follow the SS10 from Este or Monselice (along A13 Bologna-Padov higway) or Legnago (if you arrive from Verona). a little train station on the line from Mantova to Monselice-Padova is also available (only local trains). |

| | Walls, walls... all around New camera, different side of the town... and still the walls are there.. |

| Pros: | "Magic place, no crowds of tourists..." | | Cons: | "just a little out of the usual touristic routes" |
