"Lovely little town on a rock and a unique "duomo"" Orvieto by effeti
Orvieto Travel Guide: 209 reviews and 736 photos
Orvieto - a town dominating the valley from his high rock - has more than his cathedral (medieval narrows streets, buildings, romanesque churces).
But the cathedral alone is worth a visit.
The facade is gothic.... but forget the gotic of the northern origins.... The colours and the lights generated here an "italian gothic" that is quite different fron the ancestor.
- Pros:Unique position, worth a vissit for the cathedral alone
- Cons:You have to park the car in certain places
- In a nutshell:Along the highway. Stop there!

Plesae tell me how to get from the car rental to town. Staying at Hotel Valentino.
Indovina dove staremo domani!!!!???? Orvieto! Grazie!!!
Your restaurant tip is very good and sounds like great value too.
I really like your photos. They are very nice. Thank you for your nice words about my Kos' travel page. A lot of greetings from Maria from Poland.
Francesco- Your quote rings true with us! Great new photo. Looking forward to a 2nd quick visit to Orvieto on way to Roma next week. I could examine the facade for an hour. Ciao, Jon
Orvieto was one of the friendliest place we have ever visited. I think we all have that picture down the walkway to the cathedral. Somehow - maybe our big Lancia coupe - we got to park in city center without a hassle. This is a great little page. N>
This was our favourite hilltop town in Italy.
Oh, did this ever bring back wonderful memories, Frcesco! Majestic photo of cathedral.
Very nice tips and amazing pictures. No pictures allowed in the cathedral? :-(((( Haha, OK, I would like to visit it and take pictures with my secret camera :-)
