Slowly building up my pages | Malcesine before a thunderstorm |
New ppp - taken by a very special photographer, Lacristina (Christine), in the Roman Forum on yet another gorgeous and warm December day in my favorite city. Finally after trying for two years, I got to meet Cristina! ;-) Little by little, my pages are bulding up. Mainly i like to write about places i know better... Many of them are in Italy, of course. After the Verona (my town) page, the Garda Lake page is growing bigger month by month. I placed it under my Torri del Benaco page (one of the villages along the east shore i visit more often) because the "Lago di Garda" page is placed by Vt under the Lombardy region, wich is true only for the south-west shore of the lake. So, i'm placing there all of my tips and picture... as soon as i have new pictures and time to write. Hope you will enjoy it.. |
| | Just a few more views of Verona See below and albums for news and pics from the VT meeting just ended in Verona (may 8th 2005)
VT has plenty of good Verona pictures.... And, living and working here, i usually don't go walking with a camera but.... sometimes you show around a friend, and so... here they are: my pictures of Verona... As in my other pages, the pictures are frames captured from my MiniDV digital camera. Not a big quality, so.. Forgive me |
Piazza Erbe More than 2,000 years ago, the actual Piazza Erbe was already the city center.....the roman Forum.... The picture, with the mediaval city bell tower, is taken from the exact crossing of the two main roman streets, called, as everywhere the romans where ruling, "cardus" and "decumanus"
| | Case Mazzanti in Piazza Erbe Again in Piazza Erbe, the frescoed "case Mazzanti" |
Looking at S.Anastasia looking up Corso St. Anastasia, from piazza delle Erbe once again
| Santo Stefano - bell tower |
| | Across the river Adige Cross the Ponte Pietra, and take a look at th original bell tower of St. Stefano..... |
and finally... and finally, turn and see a sunset on ponte Pietra... Of course a shiny autumn day helps!
See a little more pictures in my Verona page.. and many thanks for visiting my page!
| Corso Porta Nuova e i portoni della Bra |
| | A street and the mountains From Corso Porta Nuova (the main road in the foregound of the picture) you enter Piazza Bra and Finally see the Arena. The double arch you see in background is a (relatively) recent gate on the longobard's city walls, and there you can read, with you're back to the town, the famous words "There is no world without Verona walls, but purgatory, torture, hell itself" that Shakespeare's Romeo tells before leaving.. The mountain you can see is Monte Baldo (it separates the Garda Lake from the river Adige valley). It is not so far, but the day i took the picture was a clear one.... |
