Most of the tourists come to Grenwich to visit the National Maritime Museum and to look at the Greenwich Meridian Line at the Royal Observatory. The right Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) is approved since 1884..
For me it was 2 long months in Greenwich working as a baby-sitter. That is why I give you little information about the area. When I was allowed to go out, I was pushing the pram in front of me. You are not interested in the many local playgrounds and a swiming pool with hardly any water, are you? The advantage of Greenwich is, that it is on the outskirts of London with a quiet life in green. There are many ponds in the park you can watch the ducks or kites
Unfortunately the family gave me hardly any free time, neverending household chores.. not speaking about the food, which I sometimes envied to the cat Caspar, heh. My (only) escape from the house was when I could go out with the kids to the park. It surprised me how much the kites are popular in England, reminded me my childhood. But here many adults enjoy this!! Later, when I left Greenwich, I saw a wonderful kite-show on a beach in Hastings. I saw at least 60 kites on the blue sky at the same time, amazing! some were very funny, even sexy :)
On the Thames bank you can see the last surviving tea-clipper Cutty Sark, which is open every day, all year round from 10 am to 5 pm. Did you also think that it is first of all the name of the Scots whisky? :o)
