Aberdeen - The Granite City & City of Flowers

by janettepang - last update: Dec 26, 2004

Janette & Marischal College - Aberdeen
Aberdeen - The Oil Capital of United Kingdom, is known as the Granite City as it's surrounded by buildings made from granite.

The city is also called the City of Flowers because all the greyness from the buildings & the weather just gets transformed into psychedelic proportions with flowers blooming around every corner or inch of green around the city just as long as the weather's not too harsh.

More spectacular bloomings can be seen around Spring & Summer - where spring sees the Flowers & Gardening competition which basically any homes with gardens in the city can take part in annually. When that takes place, the city looks more vibrant & beautifully surounded with landscaped gardens & flowers :-D

This is where I live in Scotland at the moment :-)

Christmas in Aberdeen

2004 sees new Chrismas deco in the central area of the city - particularly the main street of Union Street.

We were fortunate to be blessed with a white Christmas that's impeccably timed - snow showers on the eve & stopped just nicely late in the night for a clear Christmas Day.

The nice weather went on for Boxing Day so it's the ideal weather for going shopping at the sales! ;-)
