Rottnest Island - Rottnest Island

Located 18km off the coast of Fremantle, Rottnest Island is both a resort and a destination for day-trippers. It was first settled in 1830 before being turned into a jail. In 1903, the jail was closed and the island started to develop as a tourist resort. Activities available on the island include swimming, fishing, sailing, golf, diving, snorkelling and hiking. Rottnest is a nature reserve where all fauna and flora are protected.
