Sudbury water tower I was pleased by the friendliness of the people in this northern Ontario mining town. I was up for a folk festival conference and enjoyed good hospitality |
L-A and the big Nickel I never did get into the mine below (had limited time and decided that Science North would take much more time to go through). The Dynamic Earth exhibit has tours of the nickel mine below. One view facing towards Timmins includes a huge hill of black ore... other views include the Sudbury hills (covered with birch, jack pine and lichen so they aren't as blackened as they were) |
Dynamic Earth and Big Nickel The building to the right is the entrance for mine tours -- at the Dynamic Earth exhibit. If you'd like to see both a mine tour AND Science North, they have a combined package that saves money. Dynamic Earth and the Nickel are on Big Nickel Rd and off the hwy that goes from Sudbury to Timmins. |
