Umeå - The city of Birch Trees

Umea is situated on the 64th latitude in northern Europe, in Sweden one hour by air from Stockholm. Umeå was founded year 1622, so it's not very old, but it has some great history anyway.
A little more than 100 000 people live here. Biggest employers are the Community, Northern University Hospital, Umea University and Volvo Trucks.
Lots of snow in Winter, Aurora Borealis in the sky at night and blistering cold at times. It's so far north that the Summer nights never get dark, hot days but also a lot of rain. It's located on the Northern Taiga.

I'm currently living here, studying Biology and Ecology at the University of Umeå.

Your lake in the Autumn travelogue resembles the glacier lake I live near in Oregon. Outstanding photos you take.

Maybe it's one of the homeless 26% who are stealing the bikes? Yes,...they must be intoxicated by all the milk! I think one of the "Desirable 16" should hire a detective to uncover this conspiracy! ;) Great shots Dave! As always! :)
