In all the years I've lived in New Brunswick, I can't recall ever travelling through the Village of Memramcook, near Dorchester in the southwest corner of the province....before today.
It's a typical small, rural town, but you can find places to do some golfing (at the 18-hole Memramcook Valley Golf Club), hiking and biking, a concert hall, museums, or take a historical tour at the Monument-Lefebvre National Historical Site of Canada.
Driving through it, I followed the blue and white signs featuring grapes, and came upon a winery run by Belliveau Orchard. More about this place in my Things to Do page.
Memramcook holds the annual "Festival des pommiers fleuris de Memramcook" (Apple Blossom Festival) during the first week of June.
There is a 50-room resort-hotel here called the Memramcook Institute, and a bed & breakfast called the Gite Les Trois Moulins, located at 172 Rte La Vallee, along Route 106. (506-758-0911.)
From Dieppe, you can take the Trans-Canada Hwy #2 east from Moncton and take the exit for Memramcook/Dorchester, or take a more scenic route by taking Route 925 south from Dieppe.
This would be a nice run on a motorcycle ! |

Bwana_Brown Thu Jul 14, 2005 17:34 UTC Yes, not a bad little spot in which to venture off the beaten path! Like you, I drove by many times before actually visiting this nicely situated little village. Nice tip on the wine! |
