Getting TO/AROUND: For those visiting Piedras Negras from Texas, the easist lest thing to do is to park on the U.S.A. side of the Rio Grande and walk across the International Bridge. I found a parking lot about a block north of the bridge which cost me only $1.00 per day, and my vehicle was one of only a handful that was there. On the week-day in late February that I visited Piedras Negras I saw hardly any tourists besides myself, however there was a lot of local foot traffic. Much of it seemed to be Mexicans who came over to shop at the Dollar Store in Eagle Pass.

More than likely you will not be asked for any documentation when you enter Mexico, but you will need proof of citizenship to re-enter the United States. You may also drive across the bridge, however Mexican insurance is required. It can be purchased at the border.
