Nestled along the banks of the Detroit River, 32 kms southwest of Windsor and across from Boblo Island (Bois Blanc), is the historic town of Amherstburg. First settled in 1784, it is one of Ontario's oldest communities. We enjoyed the small town charm and friendliness although we only had time to explore a sampling of the several points of interest. |

matcrazy1 Sat Oct 14, 2006 04:59 UTC Fort Malden sounds interesting. | TravelCool Wed Jan 19, 2005 01:26 UTC Did Ft. Maiden get its name from a real maiden? | deecat Mon Jun 28, 2004 00:02 UTC Fort looks interesting and worthwhile to see. I have trouble with potatoes alone so maybe I would eat them disguised with the gravy. When I read your entry I LOL. | Simonneeddy Thu May 27, 2004 13:49 UTC I lived in Windsor for a couple of years but never saw the fort. Nice comments. |
