"Campobello Island, New Brunswick, Canada" Campobello Island by Stephen-KarenConn

Campobello Island Travel Guide: 30 reviews and 79 photos

Campobello Island sits at the mouth of the Bay of Fundy in southernmost New Brunswick, just over the International Bridge from Maine. A century ago this island was the summer haunt of many rich and famous families, including that of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who would one day become the president of the United States.

The island is rural in character, uncrowded and very scenic. It can only be reached by one bridge, from Lubec, Maine, or by a seasonal ferry from the New Brunswick mainland, via Deer Island.

The same things that once drew some of the most wealthy people in North America, now lure tens of thousands of tourists of average means. It is an ideal destination for those who enjoy outdoor activities amist scenic splendor. The history buff will also find much of interest here, including old mansions and even older lighthouses.

I like Campobello Island. I can hear the amazing sound of the waves on the shore. Other than that, peace and quiet. A good place to unwind.

First of all thanks for visiting my Berlin Ohio page. We love Holmes county too - so picturesque. I enjoyed this Campobello Island. What a great place to visit. Hans and I really must see more of our own country.

This must have been "paradise" for you and Karen with your love of lighthouses. A fascinating place, Stephen. You always seem to find and share the most unique places. I truly enjoy reading about them.

The Canadian Maritimes has been high on our lists for a long time. It could well be our next roadtrip. I once did work for a company that made "Quoddy" the time I had no idea where the name came from. Thanks for the great preview...Tom

Must be a strange feeling to walk over to East Quoddy Head at low tide, knowing that all those walkways, bridges and ladders will be under huge amounts of water in just a few hours.
