Kanawha Head, West Virginia, is a very small community in the mountains of Upshur County, near the headwaters of the Kanawha River. The Kanawha, which begins as a mountain stream, grows as if flows down from these mountains and is a hard-working river by the time it reaches the City of Charleston. The Kanawha is a tributary of the Ohio River, which flows into the Mississipppi, and hence to the Gulf of Mexico.
