Founded in 1835 by Pleasant Gray, the town of Huntsville grew quickly, with prominent settlers moving here from Alabama, Tennessee and Virginia. From the city's inception, it was considered to be the center of education and law, and was the home of many military leaders, including Sam Houston, during the years of the Republic of Texas.
Today, Huntsville is still home to prominent state institutions, while maintaining its small town charm. Huntsville is 73 miles north of Houston and 176 miles south of Dallas, along I-45. |

truthbetold Sat Aug 18, 2007 18:38 UTC The picture that you are showing as "Death Row" is wrong. The offenders are in fact executed at the Wall's Unit but Death Row is housed at the Polunski Unit. The place where the offenders are executed at the Wall's Unit is known as the "Death House". | XenoHumph Fri Jul 22, 2005 18:51 UTC Excellent page onHuntsville!
